Introducing the Garmin VIRB 360

Garmin, with their first entry into the 360-degree action cam market are releasing the Garmin VIRB 360. I cannot wait to get my hands on one to try out and my hands-on review of the VIRB 360 will follow in the near future.

The VIRB 360 boasts some impressive features that will challenge the key players GoPro, Nikon and Samsung in this market. The features include:

· Rugged, Waterproof 360-degree Camera with 5.7K/30fps Resolution and 4K Spherical Stabilization
· Resolution up to 5.7K/30fps unstitched and 4K/30fps with in-camera stitching
· 4 built-in microphones capture 360-degree audio
· 4K spherical stabilization ensures a smooth video regardless of camera movement
· Built-in sensors provide G-Metrix™ data overlays in 360-degree augmented reality
· Easy-to-use, free VIRB® Mobile app and VIRB® Edit desktop software let you edit, stabilize, share and add data overlays to videos
· Constantly record for more than 1 hour on 1 charge4 — without overheating

As an action cam its built to sustain rugged environments and the VIRB 360 is waterproof down to 33ft/10m, has built in GPS (standard for Garmin), auto stabilization. The camera can also measure stats such as speed, altitude, and distance travelled; it can even calculate stats like hang time and jump height. A cool feature is the VR overlays that allow you to display custom data overlay displayed in your video.

The Garmin VIRB 360 has a suggested retail price of £649.99/€820.00 and is expected to be available in June. For more information, check out the press release on Garmin’s website or watch this video of the camera in action.
